Madhubani Tussar silk Dupatta- Multicolored Pattern

This lovely dupatta (84 in x 34 in) on handwoven, natural colored tussar silk has been intricately handpainted in traditional madhubani style, using vegetable dye. It has a light border and a heavy pattern on both ends, with traditional madhubani motifs of flowers, fishes and birds. Colors used are red, green, blue and orange. A classic look for any evening out.

About the craft:Madhubani paintings were tradionally done on mud walls by village women around the town of Madhubani, in the Mithila region of Bihar state. The story goes that this style of painting was born when Lord Ram got married to Sita and her father, King Janak, commissioned artists to make paintings.
